If you knew someone that drank two litres of Vodka a week how long would it take to damage the liver beyond repair?
A sincere question ?
I might add that it is not me can't bear the stuff much prefer a couple of G&T's and some good wine!
Not really sure but I guess it would depend on how long they have been drinking 2 litres of Vodka a week.
50 or more units a week (man) and 35 or more for a woman is considered high risk. Signs of liver failure can often be seen in the white (sclera) of the eye.
1 unit is:
half a pint of beer (normal strength)
1 small glass of wine (100ml)
1 measure of spirit (25ml)
1 measure of sherry (50ml)
It may not be just the Liver that it affects. It could also affect the Brain, Stomach, Heart or Pancreas as far as I know, but I daresay it causes a knock on effect on other areas of the body.

Hope it is of some help.
Dear Sensitive Soul

love and blessings
how awful I don't know how they afford it
I have a friend who drinks 2 bottles Vodka per week and has been for (a guess) about 10+ years.
I know it is affecting him because I see him around once or twice a month and he seems just that little worse for wear each time. His cholestrol is rising, his memory gets slightly worse..... and emotionally, he seems to spend more and more time getting obsessed with specific thoughts.
The problem with an excessive alcohol intake is that it's effects are insidious.... reduced liver function causes more toxins to remain in the system as less detoxification enzymes are produced. Also, acetaldehyde (a breakdown product of alcohol) is a systemic poison..... it affects every organ.
I hope she gets it under control Kim.
