Well, my first ultrasound was WAY off...
Question: We were 1/2 hour late for my perinatologist appointment, (thanks to Kevin's brother being late for work this AM)so then we had to wait another 1/2 hour. The sonographer did the u/s and then Dr. Ehrenberger came in to talk to us. I don't know what Dr. Longenecker thought he was seeing on the u/s, but we're having twin GIRLS! They checked 3 times to be sure. Not only girls, but indentical girls. The share a placenta and a chorion, with seperate amnions. So this opens up a whole new area for worrying (TTTS and all). I see Dr. L (FP) in 2 weeks, then back to the peri (Dr. E) 2 weeks after that. I'll be having u/s every 4 weeks starting now, and another vaginal u/s to check my cervix next time (it was good today). They're both measuring 14oz which is right on. Baby A (on my right side) is head down. Baby B (on my left side) is breech and is kicking her sister in the head. :) Please keep praying/thinking good, healthy, cook until at least 36+ week thoughts for us! And send all MZ success pregnancy/birth stories you've got. Puuuhleeeaase! Answer: Congrats on your MZ girls!! Now you need to change the babies in your sig line. :) Answer: Congrats! I'll be wishing you my best. Stay positive. :o Answer: Congrats! My MZ girls shared a placenta and had separate amnions. They were perfectly healthy. I had an easy uncomplicated pregnancy. All the best to you! Answer: I have mono/di girls too and am 36 weeks now. My pregnancy has been completely uneventful, no TTTS, no major complication, no bedrest, no PTL. Eat lots of protein (even more important for mono/di twins) and try not to stress too much (I was pretty stressed for a long time). Even if they do develope TTTS there is treatment and with early intervention can have no long term problems. Congratz on your little princesses! Answer: Yeah, TTTS is a concern, but it doesn't always show up, and if they don't have it now, it's a good chance that they won't have chronic TTTS. Mine showed up early, at 18w. Wow, I'm totally shocked that you went from boys to girls! Surprise! Remember I said I'd rather have twin girls than boys ;) ETA: I just re-read that they're both 14oz... that's very good, mine had a huge size discrepancy very early on. Answer: Thanks for sharing your positive experiences, mamas! It is a little crazy to have gone from thinking it was two boys to finding out it's two girls. Dr. E said that maybe Dr. L saw the clitorises (sp?) which can look like penises earlier on. :lol Oh! Here's a picture: Answer: page not found. This didn't happen with my twins but with my first at our 20 week u/s we were told 100% girl. About 3 weeks before I had my first I was sent for an u/s due to bleeding and the doctor said your boy is looking really good. I said um you told us girl and showed us the lines that proved it was a girl. Anyway during our twin pregnancy the doctor would never give us a guarntee of what sex they were although we felt 100% sure one was a boy. Okay so this turned into a boring comment but I thought you might enjoy hearing it. Answer: Trying again: (this one worked for me) Ack, Norah!! I certainly hope they are right this time. Answer: Congrautlations on your girls! We have MZ girls who were mono/di and had a good pregnancy (except for the whole throwing up every day part) and they were born vaginally at 37 weeks -- 6lbs2oz and 5lbs7oz. Healthy, happy, no NICU stay and now wild, happy, healthy two year olds! (How did THAT happen?:dizzy: ) Congrats! Answer: Congratulations Lindsey! I guess they're not going to be Nicholas and Alexander! I must admit, I'm a little envious. We were hoping for a girl, or at least one girl out of the deal. Answer: Congratulations! My girls are MZ and the entire pregnancy and delivery went beautifully. I delivered at exactly 36 weeks and they weighed in at 6 lbs and 5 lbs 4 oz. Both girls came home with me 36 hours after they were born. Answer: The good stories/experiences do wonders for my morale! No, not Nicholas and Alexander anymore! We're pretty sure they're going to be Hazel Grace and Lucy Marie. Answer: Those are such cute names. Answer: I have MZ girls that I carried to 39+ weeks. They were born healthy, 7 lbs 6 oz each and I had an awesome homebirth. They did show signs of acute TTTS that likely developed during labor or shortly before. But they are both perfect and healthy! Congrats on your girls! :) Copyright ? 2008-2009 www.health-time.org
