What pets are you allowed where you live(if any)?
Question: I live in a housing association flat(apartment) and the tenancy agreement say that I can have animals like hamsters, guineapigs or goldfish etc but no cats, dogs, goats etc. I would prefer a cat really. I don't have any pets at the moment. So what does your housing situation allow for in the way of pets? eta: I did want to put a poll on this thread but I forgot to tick the poll box.....bread DOH! Answer: I live in a rented flat that initially said no animals at all. I was gutted as I really wanted a cat but after some research we tried asking if we could have guinea pigs and luckily our landlord agreed. Now we have 5 of the little fuzzballs living in a huge C&C cage. I can't imagine ever not having guinea pigs now, even when we move to a house and have other pets too. Answer: As many as we want. My parents own a large house and we live in some of it and rent the rest out. The people who rent here arent allowed any pets though. We have 1 dog, 1 cat and 2 rabbits (all mine :)). Answer: No pets that live outside of a tank in my residence hall (I think the agreement says only fish, but I've seen people with hermit crabs and no one cared). I don't keep any pets here. It seems like it would be too much of a hassle to transport a fish tank three and a half hours from here to home for breaks. At home, there are no limits. We have a rooster, and Amazon parrot, and a dog. At various points in our lives we've also had hens, a cat, rabbits, lizards, fish, hermit crabs, a hamster, and a mouse. I think I'd have a difficult time living permanently in a place where I couldn't have a cat or dog. Answer: Technically none. Somehow I find myself with 4 dogs, 2 cats, and 18 rats. Oh, and 3 fishtanks. We have always had at least a dog, and basically if no one complains, its fine. I make sure the cats stay inside, the dogs are only outside when they are supervised and they don't bark or dig holes or anything. Well, that was the policy, but students had guinea pigs, cats, dogs, and one student even had a snake. One of my friends joked that he was going to buy a dog and name it "Non-aggressive Fish". Answer: We can have pretty much whatever we want, we have 2 dogs right now. We want to move but are finding it hard to find a place that will let us have our dogs. So will be staying here till we do. Answer: I moved into a townhouse with three other people already living there. One roommate already had three cats from a previous relationship. I get to be around cats, so I'm happy. However, in the past seven months, the cats seem to have picked me as their new owner. I feed and water them and I now have food and water dishes and a litter box in my bedroom. My roommate has the same dishes and box in her room, but the cats seem to play in my room a whole lot more. I don't know why, but I can hazard a few guesses. I check on the cats' food and water every morning before I go to work and every afternoon. I clean out their litterbox once a day and completely replace the litter once or twice a week. I keep my room somewhat neat. I also buy cat toys every now and again. My roommate is the complete opposite. Her room is a frickin' mess. The litter box doesn't get cleaned very often (the male cat is very finicky about this) and she's left the cats without water or food some days. Even one of my friends has noticed how often I take care of these cats. I mentioned a little bit of the above rant to said roommate and she said that I'm welcome to take care of the cats, but it's not her fault if she doesn't get to the cats as fast as I do. Meanwhile, I'm thinking, "Uh, they're your cats. You should take care of them." I really don't mind taking of the cats. I'm afraid if I don't do it, they're not going to get taken care of. END RANT So, be warned, if you move in with animals who aren't yours, they might become yours. :) Answer: Technically none. But I have a big fat cat anyway. Where I live it's actually illegal for landlord to specify no pets. They do it all the time anyway, but there aren't any consequences if you ignore it.
