Anyone heard of Aisle 12?
Question: I was at the derm yesterday and we were talking briefly about up and coming treatment options in the works. My doctor mentioned I should look up Aisle 12 (or isle 12); of course, I didn't think to ask him how to spell it! Anyway, I have googled it both ways and can't find a thing. Anyone heard of this or something similar?? Perhaps I got the name wrong. Thanks! Nancy Answer: Hi Nancy, I haven't heard of it... now I'm curious... I'll let ya know if i find anything Denise Answer: Hi Nancy -- on a hunch I googled IL-12. Looks like this one may be it. Here's one link regarding this subject: http://www.bloodjournal.org/cgi/con...ract/105/4/1582 I didn't do a thorough search, so I don't know what other information there is about this. I might do some more looking into this later tonight. Hope this helps. Jody Answer: So far the research relative to IL-12 has been centered around tumour regression but there is an article that was published by the American Academy of Hematology in 2003 which looks at selective suppression of IL-12 production by humanherpes virus 6. Looks like suppressing IL-12 (interleukin 12) may not result in inhibition of TNF-T-Cells. Looks like this research could result in a far safer treatment than the TNF T-Cell inhibitors that are currently available through injections because they have the effect of restricting the rapid proliferation of cells (such as in tumours and psoriasis) but without the risk of cancer currently associated with the TNF T-Cell inhibitor drugs currently available for psoraisis. Here's the article if you are interested: http://www.bloodjournal.org/cgi/reprint/102/8/2877 P.S. - I didn't come up with this theory myself, I did ask a PhD in Cell Biology who is familiar with the research. Answer: Thank you all! I could not think of another variation on the name to try searching it. Cassiebooboo, you shouldn't have put a "PS" on your post. I was in awe of you and thinking to myself "my gosh, this person's totally brilliant" :) Thanks for the article. It's quite interesting. (At least now I feel a little more confident in my derm :) ). Nancy Answer: Nancy, thank YOU for bringing it to our attention! It does sound like it has promise. I'm always hopeful for new, better and safer treatments for both P and PA. Nancy Hi Nancy, This is just a wild guess but how about Elidel? Answer: Well, now that I know the correct name of IL-12 ( :) ) I managed to pull up a few articles on google about trials they are doing relative to psoriasis and Chron's disease. Very interesting reading. Sorry I'm not sure how to put the link(s) here but thought I'd just mention this in case anyone else wants to read them. Nancy Answer: He was probably referring to STA-5326, which is an opal IL-12 inhibitor that is in clinical trials for psoriasis, crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and MS. http://www.syntapharma.com/PrdPipeline.aspx Answer: I believe the Gretchen (cricketgurl) either was or is participating for a clinical trial for IL-12. Mike Answer: I did the IL-12 study, stuffed worked great...totally amazing. Clear in about 6 weeks...lasted well over 3 months after the trial was finished. Too bad ti was just a trial. Answer: I did the IL-12 study, stuffed worked great...totally amazing. Clear in about 6 weeks...lasted well over 3 months after the trial was finished. Too bad ti was just a trial. As Mike said I was in the study. It lasted for a year and in the study which was double blind. I only recieved 6 shots. Oh baby I cleared and fast. I started seeing results after the 2nd shot. I kept asking family over and over again if I was losing my mind or actually clearing. But I still think I am losing my mind.. :D All in all though with what happened with Vioxx that they are going to be extra careful with the rest of the studies and it will be a few years before it is FDA approved. I wish it were now. I think during that study I had never felt better with clearing skin. My joints weren't even bothering me then like they do now. I had talked to my derm about it when I first started and through out the study. He said that it works faster and better than Enbrel. I can't agree or disagree as I have not used Enbrel. All I know is that I want that drug on the market.. It can do good for those who are bad like i was. Gretchen (cricketgurl) Answer: Thanks, Steven and Gretchen. Both of your stories certainly give me hope! It must be difficult to find something that works so well and then have to stop taking it after the study is over :( I will, however, be following this IL-12. Sounds very promising! Nancy Answer: AMAZING! One more thing to add to the Micro computer notebook project! This board is simply fabulous! :) Copyright ? 2008-2009 www.health-time.org
