Tumble down the stair...
Question:

I took a tumble down the stair at work today. Feel like I have just about breaking every single bone in my body. However I got back on my feet and went back working… not sure how I will be feeling tomorrow. Work is getting very busy right now. I feel horrible if my co-workers will have to carry my load.
My co-worker is also in the process of a divorce. He is an older gentleman and I feel absoultly horrible this is happening to such nice guy. (wife is dating a younger guy cause she had a make over and lots whole bunch weight... she used to be chubby/fat now she is decent looking but with an ugly heart)
I really don't think I have it in me to get up tomorrow to get to work. however it's the poor guy's birthday and I have a ben & jerry ice cream cake ordered already. oh boy boy .. plus it would be even worse to make him to cover my shift on his birthday where he is already alone..
I hope my boss can come up with something if I am just in too much pain to stay at work tomorrow..
thank you for reading my rant... leaving the office now and go home to soak in some hot salty water...

Answer:

OUCH! How are you today?

Answer:

what kind of work do you do? any way to reduce your load a bit so it doesn't overwhelm anyone else, or maybe work half day so you can do the cake? sometimes, when I anticipate feeling the worst, I don't, then all of a sudden for seemingly no reason, I have a "couch day," like today. fortunately I can do this lying down. I have to write copy for a bank advertisement and some other things but won't do anything physical.
let us know how you are,

Answer:

got some extra stiffness and pain today. It's becoming hard to decide if it was from the fall or just my regualr PA deal.
I am a banquet manager for a historical hotel in Princeton downtown in NJ. This week is recruting week for major companies that are targeting Princeton students... lots running around making sure things are going according to plans. on a normal day I don't usually need to run around so much. Usually only weekend weddings would wear me out. (usually have 3 to 4 weddings on the weekend) Weekdays are usually corporate meetings and stuff.. if it was orgainze correctly there shouldn't be much to do on the day off besides my regular "meet and greet". I walked in today everyone seems to be really concerned and a few of my staff wonder why I was even there today... which was very sweet of them.
I would have took the day and lay in bed.. if it wasn't my co-worker's birthday and I was in charge of the ice cream cake. (I got yelled at by the ben and jerry guy when I told him I was there to pick up my ice cream cake. he yelled "it's not ice cream.. it's ben and jerry!!.." I guess he must reallly love ben and jerry). I am just finishing up in the office right now and try to clear off all the paper work for today and head on home. :) I can't wait to see my rhemmy again.. maybe he will give me something for the pain this time...

Answer:

So sorry to hear about your accident. I do hope that you can get something significant to help you with pain. The stiffness really makes it hard to walk up and down stairs. It was really kind of you to make sure that your coworker got his cake on his birthday since he's going through such a rough time. I hope you'll have some easier days at work this week.
We do have our share of problems in the workplace, there's no question about that. In the classroom today, I had to sit on the floor for a few minutes to cue up a tape on the VCR. I thought my lab assistant was going to have to get a crane in there to get me up off the floor! I;m sure it must've looked pretty funny to those youngins in the class.
You take care and I hope you can rest up a bit now.

Answer:

Ha.. I got up today and 2 hours before going to work I was sitting there debating if I am going to work. I even did the old coin tossing bit. Which both time told me to stay home.. I swallon 4 aleve and got dressed and went to work. (is there some harmful effect to go over recommanded dosage on painkiller? On the bottle it says do not exceed 2 in 24 hours). I am glad I came in.. cause it was been a crazy day and if I don't coming in.. they would have to pull a 16 hours shift... that would just be horrible.
the pain is getting worse everyday but my rhemmy called say the blood test came back all normal. could this be in my head? or is it possible to suffer arthritis pain even my blood work is all normal?
would it help me if I start to move around more like power walk or light jogging? I am just getting really tired of feeling old when I am only 28..

Answer:

Keep on moving and doing your thing, sitting around only makes it worse. It will loosen up and subside in time and you'll be stronger when it does. I admire and share you work ethic. Hope you feel better soon and can start on that 'light jogging', seems like a dream to be able to do that.

Answer:

I don't think I would do any "light jogging". It's hard on the knees. I have read that fast walking is better, anyway. I'll be glad if I ever get back to taking a long walk!
With pppp on the bottom of my feet,,,I almost forgot what it's like. I am better now than I have been in 5 years. So,,,maybe,,, one day!
