Severe Arm Pain in Both Arms
Question:

I am a 41 years old and about 7 years ago I started having pain in my left bicept that you would radiate down my entire arm. The pain would come and go and over a period of about a year it became constant. After the first year I started having pain in my right arm and it also is constant. The pain is a throbbing, aching, deep muscle pain that radiates down the arm. I have been to many doctors and even have been to the Mayo Clinic trying to get answers on what the cause to this could possibly be. I have had the following surgeries: They rerouted the Ulnar Nerve in my left arm that didn't relieve any pain. I traveled to Florida to have Surgery on my spine where they releived pressure in the c4, c5 are of the spinal cord. This also did nothing to relive any of the pain. I recently had a Spinal stimulator put in my lower back with the stimilation going to each one of my arms. This has helped some but the pain is still overwhelming. I have been on many medications, morphine, oxycotin and many more hard narcotic drugs and the only drug that seems to have any affect is Ultram. It dulls the pain in my arms a little and with the spinal stimulator it makes life at least bearable. I believe we have tried everything and the Doctors don't know what else to do. Does anybody have any thoughts on what this could be?

I would appreciate your input..

Answer:

Wow- how did you get thru so many procedures. Ouuch! Sorry about that :(.
Hmm you should have tried acupuncture and changing your diet.
I am having pains that I can connect to my diet. Every time I eat red meat- I started to have pains. I have been in bed for weeks at a time.
I was wondering about your blood type. I am following the blood type diet, I think that can shed some light on your problem.
Pains and aches are immune responses, unless you had an accident.
*Avoid milk, sugar, wheat, red meat, all processed foods.
*Use the sauna if it is not adversed for your condition or with your medication.
*Try to talk to your doctors about how to stop those meds, as the load on your liver, is only going to make you sicker.
Take Care.

Thanks for your response. I haved tried Accupuncuture and I also tried CUPPING. Cupping is a very painful procedure that causes severe bruseing. I don't currently know my Blood Type but I will find this out. I have never heard of a Blood Type Diet before. I am currently running 3 miles per day and trying to stay very active during the day. I have to take meds so I can sleep through the night otherwise the pains keeps me up. I have been put on complete disability(Social Security) becuase they cannot figure out how to better relive the pain. The best thing that I have found is to try an keep a positive attitude and just put a smile on your face even though you don't feel like it.

Thanks

Laughing cure all the way! I often watch Seinfeld as a therapy.
Yeah- I don't know if cupping is for everyone- also, there are different types of acupuncture.
Acupuncture alone won't help unless you find out what are the drastic changes that you need to undertake.
Please read the book "Never Be Sick Again" by Raymond Francis- he helps people in disability to regain their lives. His website is beyondhealth.com, if you sign up by giving your email, you can read for free some of the articles which are part of the book.
I am buying 3 of those books today, for my family.
Also try Mercola.com and Walter Last
http://users.mrbean.net.au/~wlast/index.html
If you are still eating aspartame, wheat, more than 35 grams of protein a day, dairy, genetically modified food, fruit sprayed with pesticide, taking drugs, and eating chemical additive- consider reading the book.
By the way- I would recommend you getting the book for your blood type, but you can start using the dadamo.com website and see what's all about.
Depending of your blood antigen, your body will react differently to certain foods. It is about "dietary lectins".
There is a lot of generalization on the book but it will help you very much to figure out what you want to eat after you stop eating rice, pasta, pizza, soda, cakes, potato chips, etc.

Answer:

I dont think i would be recommending the blood type diet, which is universally recognized by dieticians as having no factual background.

Did you ever rec' a "professional" reply? I'm curious~after reading your post, I have almost the exact same situation. This just started happening over the last year~and it seems to be tied to my work outs~weight lifting. I'm not a body builder, just someone who wants to stay toned, and it's very painful now. I notice that if I go a while w/o working out, there's no pain, then when I do have a session, a day later I'm in agony.....The pain radiates from the elbow, down to the hand and it's just as you typed~at times throbbing and deep tissue, in the joints as well. I looked up fibromyalgia and it's similar~just not all the symptoms.....

Hi, what do you mean by a professional reply. The only feed back that I received is what you see on the posts. I am 5"11, 170 pounds. I do not lift weights and never have. My pain started out intermittently in my left arm and over the period of a year or so it became a constant pain and then started in my right arm and it also became constant. I have seen some of the best doctors in the world at the Mayo Clinic and they cannot figure out what is causing the pain. I have had a spinal stimualtor impalnted in my lower back which helps MASK the pain a little but the pain still never goes away. I have learned to just deal with it. I am not currently seeing any Doctors except my normal pain management doctor. The only pain pill that seems to help any at all is a a drug called "Tramadol". It is not a narcotic but for some reason it seems to help with the pain when the narcotics didn't do anything at all. I was on a Drug called Methadone witch helped with the pain but I was so druged up I couldn't function so I stopped taking it. Without it I would not be able to make it through one day.

If I were you I would do some research on "Thoracic Outlet Syndrome"

Thanks for your response.

Any luck yet with your pain? I am in the same situation right now but have other symptoms too. I have been searching the site here and I think (hope) I found my problem it's called Central Pain Syndrome. I have the burning, sharp shooting pain, tingling, numbness, loss of strenght, tender to touch and move, the pain is now shooting down my back. I have already had 2 surgerys my one shoulder and my neck was fused and the pain keeps getting worse. The hard thing is that I am only in my late 20's. If I do have CPS there is no cure. Do you have any of those symptoms? Do you remember ever hurting your self

After I had the spinal stimulator implanted last June I have more or less decided that I will just have to live with the pain. I am tired of going to Doctor after Doctor with no answer as to what my pain is caused from. I have been on Diasabilty for over 4 years now and I am getting ready to try and go back to work and just tuff it out. When my pain started several years ago I was doing a bunch of Jet Skiing at the time. I don't know if that had any thing to do with my problem or not. I have never heard of CPS but I will definitly look it up. If you have any other luck with Doctors please send me an E-mail.
